CMM Programmer / Surface Inspection

(Aerospace)

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for supporting Collins in Oakville, Canada by providing CMM/Surface Inspection and Quality Engineering support for Landing Gear and Brakes for commercial and defense aeronautics.  

Functions: 

In this role you will be doing, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform detailed inspection on landing gears and brakes utilizing CMM and hand tools such as dial calipers, micrometers, etc., for dimensional attributes
• Write programs (PC-DMIS) for the CMM
• Utilize profilometers and comparator for surface roughness
• Read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
• Create non-conformance documents on customer forms and submit for disposition
• Inspect for compliance to disposition
• Perform root cause analysis
• Assist in corrective action process
• Perform analysis of key performance indicators and report via metric
• Provide six sigma (lean) recommendations
• Organize and assist in resolution of part, process or system constraints
• Prioritize inspections
• CMM machines are DEA (now owned by Hexagon Metrology) - The most recent is DEA Alpha 2.0 Gantry, the others are DEA Global (12) Bridge. All CMMs use PC-DMIS

You will also use:

1. Use of the CREAFORM manual scanner (HandyScan and 3D Metrascan).
2. Scanner uses Polyworks to return part comparison analysis to CATIA models.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

• Minimum 3 years CMM and Surface Inspections
• Minimum 2 years' experience with Polyworks, certification is an asset.
• Minimum 1-year experience with Creaform software and devices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of Geometric and Dimensional Tolerancing
• Strong collaborative skills with attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
• Some knowledge of Catia and CAD desired
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and performance metrics
• Aerospace/manufacturing experience a plus
